Yew Tree, Cauldon Low, Waterhouses, ST10 3EJ tel:01538 308348

The Yew Tree Inn Cauldon Low is one of the Peak District’s best pubs, however if it wasn’t for the sign outside you’d assume you’d stumbled into an antique shop, although not a regular one. Inside this stone pub is a mass of weird and wonderful gadgets and paraphernalia such as polyphons, penny farthings and grandfather clocks. The bar prices have also gone through a time warp. It’s probably 10-15 years since I came across a pub with average prices so lowSit on an ornate church pew, sip a good pint of Burton Bridge Bitter and take in all the unusual objects, many a total mystery as to what they are. This pub is as unique as the landlord, Alan East, who says it’s his hobby and he just enjoys doing it, although it wasn’t clear if he meant the collecting or being a publican. Best visited off peak to enjoy the surroundings properly.

On the bar were a few home made pork pies and a glass jar of pickled eggs.
This is most definitely a must visit pub and I would encourage you to visit and experience it for yourself when you possibly can
Take a look at my other favourites:-Greyhound Inn Warslow, Red Lion Inn, Waterfall, Ye Olde Crown Waterhouses.
